Click here to see what I’m all about!

My name is Jess Kinkade. I’m a student at a fairly liberal school in Des Moines, IA, the heart of the presidential campaign political scheme. I’m a double major journalism and writing student with a minor in politics. I procrastinate by reading Politico, which is probably my number 2 website after Facebook, and I CANNOT get enough of everything going on in Washington. This is our country and its future–how can we possibly be okay in a state of ignorance about what’s going on? I’m going to try in my blog to just touch on a few key events of the week and provide you guys with a couple of links as jumping off places to get reading–that’s the only way we can be informed… by informing ourselves and reading, reading, reading (and watching, watching, watching). This is bound to be an exciting year in politics!

Obama is just coming off of his first year in office and those new shoes of his are gettin’ some grime on them. Hence the title of this blog. It also might have been seriously late when I came up with that, hence the weirdness. But its grown on me, and I think it really does apply. He’s been dipping his toes in the water now and we’re seeing his ratings go down and down. This is proving to be a crazy ride and I’m interested to see how he comes out of all this in 2012… which is sure to be an amazing election year.

  1. It will be interesting to see what Obama sets his mind to in his second year. His first was filled with health care, a huge undertaking, but a respectable one. Not quite sure if is the answer to the problem, but it is an attempt regardless.

I give him credit for all his efforts. His job is a thankless job, not too many of us would stay in such a position that had so much opposition with every thing you do.
